Mail an Cengiz
Hoi,
nur ums mal geschrieben zu haben:
Der Grund, warum Solaris und auch AIX keine sekundären Gruppen bieten, ist,
dass sie keinen Support für das sog. 2307bis Schema bieten. Linux schon.
Das heisst: Ran an die Compiler und nss_ldap mit --enable-rfc2307bis
übersetzen. Immerhin wissen wir jetzt was Sache ist.
Viele Grüsse
Daniel

Notes of a meeting
This guy...
...and this guy...
and me. It was about me changing camps from the first guy to the other guy. And I say it seems to work out ok. Everyone agreed on on a mutual improved partnership. I can still recieve contracts from the first guy through the other guy and we are all happy. Maybe the second guy is even going to buyy the first guy. We shall see.

Journal Entry
Work Journal
Ok, so today I have to make some major inroads on the backup thingy.
I do get distracted so easy. Also: Very important meeting this afternoon.
But I did get the VPN to the new employer set up. Works nicely.

So far...
Work Journal
Well I have not done anything on the backup so far. Instead I set up the VPN to the new business . Trashed my sys in the meantime by accidentally chmoding the whole of /etc to 600 (Silly me!)
Got it up again and everything works. >Nice one

NIC Tango
Work Journal
Hi all,
I'm sure some know the problem:
Since SuSE recocnizes the NICs by MAC, they keep shifting around their ID's
on slight config changes. I tried to check this problem by editing /etc/modprobe.conf like so:
# Aliases - specify your hardware
########################################################################
install eth0 /sbin/modprobe via-rhine
install eth1 /sbin/modprobe dmfe
install eth2 /sbin/modprobe ne2k-pci
However that does not order anything, I have dmfe on eth0, ne2k on eth1 and the onboard via-rhine on eth2. Hmmmm....
Anyone have an idea ?

The Backup
Work Journal
OK, starting to work on the backup.
First thing to do is to rework the thingy, so diskspace is not needed. Instead the whole system is to be written directly to the DVD. Buffer Underruns galore....
Second thing is to have it all menu driven.
Third thing is to have more features tied in, like autorecognizeing the bootdisk we want and so on.
